Radical Sportscars

Radical Sportscars - the UK’s fastest single-marque sportscar championship

Radical Sportscars is the world’s largest manufacturer of trackday and sports-racing cars, based in the UK but selling over 220 cars per year, to over 30 countries worldwide. Sunoco race fuel, supplied by Anglo American Oil Company Ltd. is the official race fuel partner of Radical Sportscars for their European and UK domestic race championships.

In 2015, the range of Radical UK based series; Enduro Championship, Sprint Championship and SR1 Cup, all received a new name and fresh format to reflect the thrilling racing and longstanding loyalty of its competitors. The Radical European Masters, Radical's premier international championship, continued to offer the closest experience and performance to LMP racing throughout 2015, for a fraction of the price, and is set to continue for 2016.

New for 2016 - Radical Challenge championship

The Radical Challenge Championship is a ‘new-for-2016’ Radical racing concept, offering a more diverse racing weekend than ever before, at an even more competitive price. Incorporating three additional challenge trophies – the SR1 Challenge, Solo Challenge and Team Challenge – the Radical Challenge Championship is open to Radical’s SR3 and SR1 models with a thrilling mix of sprint and endurance races at the UK’s leading circuits.

The prize

The overall 2016 Radical Challenge Champion will receive a brand-new like-for-like replacement for their title-winning SR3 or SR1, built to the latest specification.

Championship format

All UK race events take place over a single day of racing, allowing drivers the opportunity to race whilst also having spare time to spend with their family on the same weekend. Each race day features a split qualifying session, two fast-paced 20-minute standing-start sprint races and a 40-minute endurance finale, incorporating a mandatory pit-stop for all classes.

The 2016 Radical Challenge Championship will visit some of the premier UK circuits including Silverstone GP, Brands Hatch GP and Donington Park. Teams can contest one of the following challenges within the main championship, with the highest overall scoring driver/team also scooping the 2016 Radical Challenge Championship title.

The Radical Challenge championship will be made up of the following sections:

SR1 challenge

Aimed at graduates of Radical’s SR1 Cup rookie-to-racer championship, this is the perfect next step in your sportscar racing career. Open to standard 1340cc SR1 Cup specification cars with the Challenge upgrade package of dry-sump lubrication system and slick tyres.

Solo challenge

Open to single drivers in the SR3 RSX, SR3 RS and SR3, this is a fast and furious category that’s sure to be hotly contested.

Team challenge

The Team Challenge allows for two drivers in one car and is open to both SR3 and SR1 teams, ideal for Pro/Am entries or dual-Am pairings. Thanks to the popular Success Seconds system employed by Radical throughout its endurance championships, close racing across the classes can be guaranteed!
