About
The Sunoco Rolex 24 At Daytona allows drivers from selected Sunoco fuelled championships to compete against each other across the race season for arguably the most valuable prize in UK motorsport – a seat with a top team in the Rolex 24 At Daytona.
The 2012 challenge is open to drivers in the Avon Tyres British GT Championship, Cooper Tires F3 International and the Britcar MSA British Endurance Championship. Drivers in theses series alone are likely to be able to handle a DP (Daytona Prototype) at plus 190mph on the famed 31° banking at Daytona International Speedway.
Prize
The winner of the challenge receives a free race seat in a Daytona Prototype with a top team in the Rolex 24 and pre-event testing in the US at Virginia International Speedway and Daytona to familiarise themselves with the car.
Flights and accommodation are paid for as are transportation costs within the US. All the driver needs to do is pitch up at the airport with helmet, race suit and the necessary license. Medical insurance of US$1 million is provided through the GRAND-AM driver scheme.
PR activities used to promote the challenge include advertising in Autosport throughout 2011, a dedicated website and social media support. There is also a four part YouTube series and a two part documentary which this year has been shown on Sky Sports and Motors TV. Not only do we follow the winner but also as the challenge heats up the competitors are closely followed in the UK media as well as abroad - giving competitors the best out of their experience even if they aren’t lucky enough to win the challenge.
