Sunoco Whelen Challenge
The Sunoco Whelen Challenge is a season-long competition which pits racers from selected Sunoco fuelled championships in Europe against one another for one spectacular prize; a race seat in a 500 bhp, 190 mph Daytona Prototype at the Rolex 24 hour race.
First launched 7 years ago, the Prize consists of pre-race test days at the ROAR before the Rolex 24 At Daytona in Car #31 Whelen run by Action Express racing, and a seat in the big race itself in the mighty 'Rolex 24 At Daytona'.
Congratulations to the 2016 Sunoco Whelen Challenge Winner, Jonny Adam. He raced at the Rolex 24 At Daytona in January 2016. Also included in the prize are flights, accommodation and transport costs in the US, and a dedicated Sunoco Whelen Challenge race suit, with the chance to step on to the top of the podium and bring home the much coveted Rolex Daytona watch. All the driver needs to do is pitch up at the airport with helmet, race suit and the necessary licence (Medical insurance of US $1 million is provided through the driver scheme).
The qualifying championships for the 2016 race season are: British Championship (GT3 Class), Radical European Masters and Radical Challenge- it is only drivers these series which are likely to be a able to handle a Daytona Prototype at plus 190mph on the famed Daytona banking.
