Ross rallies round

To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, losing one driveshaft may be regarded as a misfortune; to lose both looks like sheer bad luck.

Such were the trials and tribulations that befell Kevin Ross in the recent Hytorc Stages Rally in Ingliston, the first round of the Scottish Tarmac Rally Championship.

Having lost two minutes – and having just returned from a two-year lay-off – managing to claw his way to third place in the Sunoco-fuelled Subaru Impreza is, well, impressive.

Impressive, but hardly surprising. Shortly before his untimely death, former World Rally Champ Colin McRae adjudged Ross winner of the inaugural Scottish Rally Championship Albar Junior programme in 2007, tipping him for future stardom.

It seems that despite Ross’s two-year sabbatical, anything is still possible.

Ross’s next outings will be the Squarepage Systems Stages on April 24th, 2010 followed by the Jim Clark Reivers Rally in May.
