The RCD Motorsport / FPW Racing team left Oulton Park somewhat dejected with the ending to what had been a very promising first couple of days to the 2nd round of the Sunoco British 125 GP Championship. After putting his Honda onto the front row of the grid, Callan Cooper was confident in his ability to mix it at the front and with a bit of luck make the podium. Unfortunately this wasn’t to be and on his third lap while battling for third had a coming together with Robert English. Both riders went down while flat out in 5th gear, leaving Cal with a broken left shin bone. Since the round Cal has been further examined and re-cast back in the Isle of Man. Combining his treatment with periods in the Hypobaric chamber on the island, Cal should return to the series in time for Thruxton at the end of the month, Cal did want to thank the Marshals and Medics for his treatment. GET WELL SOON CAL!!! Tom Carne also improved his qualifying and starting from 9th had a superb race which saw him initially get pushed back to 14th before rallying his efforts to charge through the field and into 5th place. While closing the gap on 4th , Tom was unfortunately forced to pull off the racing line and onto the grass after loosing water from his“holed” radiator. TV footage clearly showed a disappointed teenager remove his helmet and play no further part in the race. Tom had however improved over the weekend and was showing the kind of potential the team knows he has! Round 3 of the British Superbike series move to Croft in N. Yorkshire. With Cal sidelined, Tom has the hopes of the team on his shoulders at a track he tested at earlier in the year.
