GT4 EURO DIVERSITY BODES WELL FOR BRITISH GT

Race victories for five different marques in GT4 across Europe this season are underlining the effectiveness of championship regulations aimed at promoting close, exciting racing. They are an indication that the category is set for a resurgence in the UK in 2010, says the Avon Tyres British GT Championship promoter, SRO Motorsports Group.

The Corvette C6, Porsche 997, Aston Martin Vantage, BMW M3 and Ginetta G50 have all taken race wins in the Dutch GT4 Championship in 2009, and meanwhile in the GT4 European Cup there have been victories for the Ginetta, BMW, Porsche and Aston.

"It is a clear indication that the GT4 regulations have been well formulated and that no one marque has an unfair advantage," says SRO Marketing Manager Alistair Spence. "Hopefully teams looking to contest British GT next season will take note of these results and they will broaden their perceptions.

"SRO is fully committed to GT4 and everyone here believes that a strong GT4 category is vital to the continuing success of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship."

Underlining that commitment, SRO is working hard with the Dutch and European series organisers to bring competitors from those championships to the UK for the season-closing British GT rounds at Brands Hatch next month. "It would be great to see some of the top European teams come over here and demonstrate what GT4 is really all about," added Spence.
