Huntly 13 year old Callum Bey again showed his class gaining another top ten finish, riding his KRP Honda, in the Sunoco GP 125 British Championship, Held as part of Britain’s premiere race series the MCE British Superbike Championship.
Callum in his first season on a GP125and a lot younger than many he competes against continued his season improvement, this time at Derbyshire’s famous Donington Park Circuit. Going well he was in the top ten in all sessions except the all important Qualifying where he finished fourteenth leaving him on the fourth row of the grid for Sundays televised Race.
At the start of the race Callum had to steer clear of problems in the crowded pack of riders that went into the first corner, falling back to seventeenth at one point but gaining a place by the finish line on lap one. Next lap saw him tenth and into the points with faster lap times than those ahead of him.
By Lap nine he was into tenth and pushed hard to gain ninth place by the end of the next lap. The next group of riders was well ahead of him and Callum had to settle for ninth place but not before pulling away from the group of riders chasing him many of whom had more experience than him in the Championship.
Another one of Callum’s hard and gritty rides he has become known for this season and gaining another two places in the Championship. He now looks forward to the next race at Northamptonshires Silverstone arena 23-25 September.
