Britcar 24hr at Silverstone-Congratualtions to MJC ltd!

This year saw the company tackle their first ever 24 hour race, supplying drums at the back of the teams garages of Sunoco Race Fuel to 60 cars throughout the Britcar 24hr event.  The team worked really hard throughout the 24 hours to ensure no one was without fuel and carried out the task extremely successfully. The racing teams may have been running for 24 hours but the Sunoco quad kept going for 36 hours delivering fuel!

Unfortunately the weather was not on the competitor’s side; with rain starting in just the third hour of the race conditions proved to be even harder with the safety car out most of the night due to the wet track and fog.

The first hour saw Phil Bennett and his team with their Aquilla take the lead closely followed by Team Eclipse and their Mosler. However the race soon saw Team MJC Ferrari and Jet Alliance Porsche neck and neck which lasted until the very end with just a 58 second gap between them at the chequered flag.
John Gaw, at the wheel of the Ferrari had started the final hour behind, but soon found himself ahead when the Jet Alliance Porsche made their final stop with 56 minutes of the race remaining.

‘This was our first ever 24hr event and we thought it was going to be an endurance race. However 8 hours into the race it turned into a sprint race against the Jet Alliance Porsche right to the finish.’

‘We didn’t enter the race until the week before so had hardly any time to prepare but the car performed to its maximum potential and our team worked very hard together’

‘Winning this amazing race is just fantastic.’

Witt Gamski, MJC Ltd, Managing Director

Anglo American Oil Company, European and Middle East distributors of Sunoco Race Fuel, would like to thank everyone that pulled the whole show together and despite coming out of recession the event was a huge success which is looking to get better every year.

‘ Each year the race is getting bigger and bigger, next year we are expecting 80 cars to enter’

James Tucker (Founder of Britcar)
