Britcar 24hr at Silverstone

This weekend sees Silverstone host Britain’s greatest 24 hour  – the Britcar 24 hours, and with over 50 cars expected this year’s race is set to be bigger and better than ever.

The event is very much like the ‘Rolex 24 At Daytona’ as much of race is run under the cover of darkness, with little or no artificial light around the track. This year the race will be run on the Arena circuit, the latest iteration of the home of the British Grand Prix. The field is split into four classes ranging from Ferrari’s and Porsche’s to production based Renault Clio’s and VW Golf’s with 3 or 4 drivers per team.

Last year saw a fight to the very end with the MJC Ferrari up against the Jet Alliance Porsche, with just a 58 second gap between them both at the chequered flag. MJC, made up of Witt Gamski, Keith Robinson, John Gaw and Phil Dryburgh, took the win and are looking to do it again this year.

“Last year we didn’t think we were going to win it. We went there hoping for a finish or a podium and it’s fantastic to come back twelve months later as current winners. It’s going to be hard to win it for the second year but that’s our aim. There are a lot of strong entries this year, it’s going to be tough but we will be giving it our best shot.” Keith Robinson

For the second year running we will be supplying Sunoco race fuel directly to the back of the teams’ garages. The teams are only allowed 2 x 200 litre drums per car therefore we have to continuously feed the drums to the garages throughout the race – this year we will have 2 teams with quad bikes delivering the fuel up and down the garages, in effect doing our own 24 hour race!
